Advancing Diversity and Inclusion through social development projects, United Way India network now bags the ASSOCHAM Best Employer for Policies on Diversity & Inclusion Award
MUMBAI, September 12, 2022: United Way India, a leading philanthropy network, affiliated to the 135-year-old global United Way Worldwide network, was awarded the ‘Best employer for policies on Diversity & Inclusion’ award in the category for organizations with less than 1000 employees at the ASSOCHAM 3rd Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Awards at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi, India on September 6th, 2022. The award was presented by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, National Commission for Women (NCW) and the Guest of Honor, Ms. Susan Ferguson, UN Women Representative for India, UN Women India. Mr. Anil Rajput, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM CSR Council and Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, ITC Ltd., Mr. Mukesh Chauhan, Regional HR Head–North, Reliance Jio, Ms. Harita Gupta, SVP, Head APAC & Global Head, Enterprise Services, Sutherland, Dr. Upasana Arora, Chairperson ASSOCHAM Empowerment Council and Yashoda Superspeciality Hospital also graced the ceremony. The ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Awards recognise the efforts of organizations and their leadership to promote Diversity and Inclusivity (D&I) at the workplace. The awards assessed more than 100 organizations on the comprehensiveness of their approach to equality, diversity and fairness in all aspects of business. United Ways in India were recognized for their internal policies and practices that promote and support diverse individuals, views, cultures, and practices. The network strives for outcomes that reflect a more inclusive global society and prioritizes voices of those most affected. Incorporating Diversity and Inclusion in social development projects has been a priority for United Ways in India for outreach within communities and is the core criteria in making community investments. UW supports inclusive access to services and support partners who serve diverse population groups. Under DI, the network impact beneficiaries from year 2019-2022 stood at 808,440+.
