Livelihood
Empowering Communities Through Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Growth
At Thrive India, we believe that economic empowerment is essential for building resilient communities. Our Livelihood Program—anchored in inclusivity, sustainability, and skill-building—is designed to equip individuals, especially women and youth from underserved communities, with the tools they need to become self-reliant and financially independent.
What We Do: A Path to Prosperity
Sampann: Our Livelihoods Flagship Initiative
Inspired by the Hindi word ‘Sampann’ meaning prosperous or successful, our livelihood initiatives focus on enabling individuals to overcome economic barriers by gaining market-relevant skills, accessing employment opportunities, and launching micro-enterprises. The program prioritizes marginalized populations and actively champions women-led development.
- Skill Development & Vocational Training
We offer structured skill training and capacity-building programs across sectors such as tailoring, electrical repair, beauty & wellness, digital literacy, hospitality, and more. These trainings are aligned with market needs and often integrated with soft skills and financial literacy modules to build confidence and job readiness. - Promoting Women’s Economic Participation
Women’s empowerment is central to our livelihood efforts. We design programs that address specific barriers faced by women, provide gender-sensitive training environments, and support their entry into non-traditional and high-growth industries. This aligns with the G20 India Presidency’s focus on women-led development in 2023. - Entrepreneurship & Microenterprise Support
We nurture entrepreneurial potential by offering workshops, seed funding support, access to microcredit, and mentorship. Our programs also help establish market linkages and business networks, enabling small business owners to scale sustainably. - Employment Linkages & Industry Partnerships
To facilitate real-world employment, we collaborate with industry players and local businesses for job placements, apprenticeships, and internships. We also support candidates in resume building, interview prep, and navigating the formal job market. - Community-Based Economic Models
Our grassroots projects promote collective economic growth through cooperatives, SHGs (Self Help Groups), and community enterprises that enhance income generation while strengthening local resilience.

Why It Matters: Data That Drives Our Work
- Female Labor Force Participation: Only 24% of Indian women are part of the labor force, compared to 73.6% of men (World Bank, 2022). Thrive India’s programs actively address this gender gap.
- Unemployment Trends: India’s unemployment rate stood at approximately 7.5% as of 2023 (CMIE), with rural youth disproportionately affected.
- Rural Employment Deficit: The National Sample Survey shows that employment opportunities remain scarce in rural regions, highlighting the need for decentralized livelihood interventions.
- Income Inequality: Income disparities persist across social and geographic lines. Our goal is to create equitable access to income-generating resources and opportunities for all.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every individual, regardless of background, has access to dignified work and the chance to build a better life. By scaling our livelihood interventions and fostering cross-sector partnerships, Thrive India aims to reduce unemployment, promote inclusive economic growth, and empower communities to thrive.
